Are you thinking about financing a home in Grand Prairie? Susy Saldivar Real Estate can help.

When buying a home, applying for a mortgage loan is troublesome for many people, but it doesn't have to be. I have close business relationships with various lending companies in Grand Prairie, and they've helped me understand some things that make the loan application process easy.

1 – Make a list of questions about your loan program

If you find that you do not perfectly comprehend the ins and outs of the various programs, be sure you bring a list of questions with you. It is hard to understand the differences between both fixed and adjustable rate mortgages. I or one of my lender contacts will assist you in understanding the advantages and disadvantages of each program.

2 – Determine when to lock

Locking in denotes that a mortgage lender guarantees the interest rates for the loan – ordinarily at the time the loan application is submitted. By floating the rate, you can lock the rate at any time between the loan application day and issuance of closing documents. Those who elect to float presume the interest rates will drop in the near future. Click here to see the outlook for the next 90 days of interest rates.

3 – Decide if you want to pay additional points to decrease your rate

Typically you can elect to pay additional points to lower the interest rate of your mortgage loan. Each point is 1 percent of the loan and is payable in cash at closing. If you're undecided on whether or not purchasing points is the best option for you, click here to use our points calculator.

4 – Compile your paperwork

Getting a loan requires lots of paperwork, so you should spend some time getting your documents together. Click here to preview normal information that goes on a loan application.
